Trailer Spotting

So let’s talk rv park insurance for a second, the nitty gritty niche stuff, the little ”stuff” that sets some RV park insurance agencies apart from others.  One important niche exposure that many rv parks have is trailer spotting.  Something to think about….do you or your staff assist clients in the movement of trailers, or RVs?  If your park does you need this coverage.  In some cases an endorsement to the general liability form exists, look for it, and ask about it, not every rv park insurance company offers it.  The one thing we like to show our clients is why they need it and how affordable it is.

Bench Warmer

Best FHS Team Ever

Last night I went to the Rocky Top Basketball League and sat with a friend of mine, Brent Watts who coaches the First Tennessee team. He was kind enough to let me hold the clip board, yell at the refs, and watch from the bench. I had a great time getting back to the basics of pure sport and competition, I played high school ball. The game reminded me that every player has a role, each a position, and each a desire to win for the love of the game.

It reminded me of  John Bailey Company, we each have a role, a client to guard, an assist to make, and a rebound to grab. We don’t score, unless open, occasionally we will pull up or cross someone up, but for the most part we are just there to win, and we will do what needs to be done to accomplish that task. Together we work to win the game. Sports are naturally a parallel to business, they teach us how to set goals, hard work, how to lose, how to win, and how to play as a team.

Catch a Rocky Top Basketball game this summer. It’s a great family event, it’s free, and who knows, you may get a chance to chat with your favorite local college basketball star.

Rusty….we haven’t posted since August of 2009.  I find it necessary today to say thank you to a few people who have encouraged and inspired me to get back in the saddle and blog about our insurance agency.

John Bailey Company stopped blogging because we felt like we lost the online yellow brick road.  I always thought it would just come to us as we test the waters…but that just was not the case.  Not to say that we don’t have good content here, but we don’t want to just blog to blog.  I want our readers to be excited about our post, to participate, to become a part of the John Bailey Company experience…so how do you make insurance exciting to the non-insurance guru?  Well, you find friends not in the business, who genuinely care about your success and ask them.  Below are a couple of folks who have inspired me with their pure dragon-slayer blogging skills, some have given advice, others just do what they do.  These special folks are Social Media experts, Bloggers, big thinkers, who bring “it” everyday.  Thank you for helping us find our way, please keep it up:

The future of this blog is dedicated to helping our clients, employees, and insurance companies succeed. Our insurance agency is a support system for success, we live that everyday in our business, and the Bailey Post should be an extension of that.

Casey Peters - hyper local wizard of OZ at knoxify who has taught me that a vision is contagious if you know where you are going.  Behind the curtain is just a man, if you look deeper you will find the true ruler of Oz.

Jeremy Floyd - the Lion, who taught me ”That courage means acting in the face of fear.”  If you are going to have a blog, you must become a blogger to succeed…even if you are an insurance agent.  You must commit to the realness of the craft, go 110%, and never look back.  “A true cowboy wears cowboy boots all the time, what is your identity, your mark?”

Gavin Baker - Scarecrow, “the wisest man in all of OZ,” who told me without a plan, you are just a business online searching for it’s way.  He believes you can’t take the credit for the growth, that growth comes from within.

Suzy Trotta - Tin Man, she has a huge heart doesn’t she.  Suzy represents the passion in the Knoxville Real Estate market.  She taught me you must blog your passion, show the facts, and wrap them up with your culture, you must love what you blog.

Laura Bower - and of course graceful Dorothy wearing the signature ruby red slippers…her words float off the page and always bring the thunderous smile, occassional laugh, and a zeal for living in the moment. From her I learned your business must live, simply live in that place where you are, she has the yin and yang formula for social media and attracting clients.

Alex Oliver - is the special effects the technicolor of Oz, if you will.  He is the man behind the camera, who can turn an idea into a script, edit, and pump it out all in the course of 30 minutes.  Not only is ORNL Young and Free TN lucky to have him, but I think this kid is the future.  His on presence charisma and wit inspires me to do video and be good at it.

Katie Allison Granju - its not The Wizard of Oz without “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” a world reaching mommy blogger who is as real and as they come, the social media queen, who makes me love, laugh, and cry.  She represents this culture, this humility, this thing we call life and I respect that about her.

Michael Silence - Emerald City, the capital of OZ.  This guy has his ear to the ground, the one with the scoop…he knows what’s going on.  I enjoy the facts, the hustle, the art of who, what, when, where, and how.

Knoxville Auto Insurance: Volume 5

Car breakdown

Imagine going on vacation with friends or family and you wreck your car, your car gets stolen, or it breaks down.

Well you’re likely stuck where you are for the night - which will cost you hotel fees, and extra meals at restaurants to pay for. Did you know that there’s an auto insurance endorsement that may cover those certain expenses?

Certain criteria apply such as how far you are away from your home, and how long your car is out of commission. Contact us if you’re interested on hearing more about this type of trip interruption coverage.

What you may not know is that most car insurance claims are based on an Actual Cash Value (ACV) basis. This means replacement cost value of the car minus depreciation.

As several drivers out their fianance their cars - the amount their vehicle depreciates may not necessarily equal the amount they owe on their loan. So in the event of a claim, the amount paid out by the insurance company might not be adequate enough to pay off your car loan.

This is where auto loan/lease coverage comes in to play (also referred to as gap coverage). I quoted a client gap coverage on their truck today, and it was only an extra $8 per year.

Knoxville Health Insurance – An Inside Look

A Bucketful of Sugar

Had a meeting with a health insurance company rep. who gave me a few nuggets of inside info…

Takeaway thought: RX Copayments & Physician Office visit Copayments are to Health Insurance as Oil Change Copayments & Engine Tune up Copayments are to Car Insurance. If you utilize your car insurance your premium will go up… if you utilize it too much the company will drop you or force you into a very expensive high risk pool with reduced coverage. Good drivers are rewarded for Good driving and Bad drivers are incentivized to get better.

I had a routine checkup with my physician last week who gave me some insight into the name brand drug industry…

Takeaway thought: The drug industry frequently creates new drug compounds when a competing low cost generic drug is released. The new compound is patented, priced, and pitched to the physician along side free lunch for the entire staff. Example: The latest brand name cholesterol pill was a version of the older pill combined with an existing compound that reduces risk for heart disease. (2 seperate meds that have generic equivalents on the walmart/foodcity $4 drug list packaged together as 1 pill and sold at a monopolized price)
