First, do you have homeowners or renters insurance? If the answer is yes, then we can look if your homeowners insurance covers your property in storage. Most standard insurance policies for homeowners or renters can provide your personal property with protection not only in a storage unit, but anywhere in the world.

The downfall is that it does not protect you in the same way it does for the items in your home. Instead, depending on the policy forms (always ask your independent insurance provider), your belongings stored away may only have 10% of the amount of coverage in your policy. Again, ask your independent insurance provider if you are properly covered.
