First Day of Summer

Annually, summer begins either on June 20 or June 21, depending on the time zone. This year, June 20th at 7:09 PM marks the beginning of summer. This marks the longest day of the year.

This is the time of year for cookouts, family gatherings and vacations. It also is about enjoying the fruit and vegetables we planted months ago. For my family, we have been harvesting blue berries and more recently blackberries. The picture above is my niece enjoying blackberries. Anne, here at John Bailey Company, has been enjoying her cucumbers (picture to come) and tomatoes.

Also in our yard grows lemon balm. My mom has been playing around with making Lemon Balm Tea with promising results. Over this past weekend, she harvested the lavender growing in the front garden. A few years ago she made lavender brownies, which did not have great results.

What does your friends and family, even yourself, like to grow in your garden?
