This past year my parents went out West on vacation. When they returned, my Mom was talking about yurts. She had an idea to simplify and live in a yurt. So what exactly is a yurt? It is an unique round structure from as early as the 13th century. Traditionally, yurts have a felt covering the wooden frame which can be moved. In United States and Canada, however, yurts are built for more extreme weather conditions and aren’t intended to be moved.
Yurts offer a different type of camping experience. It is a way for you to camp without roughing it. The more I learn about these structures, the more fascinated I become. It not only is a different way to camp, but a different way to live. People use yurts as their homes, which gives my Mom plenty of ideas for her next home.
